On 4th April 1993, the Plenary of the Valencian Parliament designated Mr. Bernardo del Rosal Blasco as Síndic de Greuges of the Region of Valencia. He was born on the 29th October 1956, he is married and father of two sons.
His professional career began in 1978, when he got a degree in Law in the Complutense University of Madrid, in the same University where he got a Higher Certificate in Criminology in 1980. In 1986 he got a PhD in Law in this University. In 1987 he won a post as permanent lecturer of Criminal Law in the Complutense University of Madrid.
In 1991, he won a Chair as Professor in Criminal Law at the University of Alicante. He was Dean of the Law School from 1993 until 1995 and Director of the Criminology Institute of the University of Alicante from 1996 until 2000.
His academic career was complemented with his participation in the Administration of Justice as acting judge in the Audiencia Provincial of Madrid and Alicante (County Court), from 1987 until 1994. In this last year he was appointed Clients's Ombudsman of the Valencian Savings Banks. He was re-elected in 1997 and in 2001, but this year he resigned this post because he was appointed Síndic de Greuges.
At the beginning of 2000, before being appointed Síndic, he worked as a lawyer in the Bar Association of Alicante.
During his term of office, Emilia Caballero Álvarez and Carlos Morenilla Jiménez were designated First and Second Assistant respectively.
